The Early Diagenesis Model for Aquaculture (EDMA) was developed from the Biogeochemical Reaction Network Simulator (BRNS) (Regnier et al., University of Utrecht) which provided a simulation environment in which transport processes were interfaced with relevant biogeochemical reactions.
In the ECASA project, the University of Venice developed the EDMA model which models the nutrient fluxes in fish farm sediment pore waters. During this development, the DEPOMOD model was used to provide waste carbon flux input to the model.
